Cost of Services
Dr. Palumbo does not take insurance and is considered an out-of-network provider by most insurance companies. Assessments are not a one-size-fits-all service; rather, each evaluation is individualized and tailored to a client's specific needs. Therefore, the cost for an evaluation will be determined following the new-patient intake appointment.
Assessment Procedure
New Patient Inquiry
Please fill out a new patient inquiry on the website. Dr. Palumbo will review your information and reach out for a brief, complimentary consultation to assess whether she can provide the necessary services. If she can assist you, Dr. Palumbo will contact you within 5 business days to arrange an intake appointment. You'll need to complete some paperwork on the patient portal before your intake appointment.

Intake Appointment
The first step is to schedule a 60-minute intake appointment, either via telehealth or in person, with parents (or young adults), during which a comprehensive history will be obtained and reasons for seeking the assessment will be clarified. Dr. Palumbo will address any questions you may have about testing and schedule next appointment. You are under no obligation to proceed with further evaluation after the intake.

Cost Estimate
Within 3 days of your intake appointment, you'll receive a written estimate of the expected evaluation costs via our patient portal. Based on your intake information, Dr. Palumbo will recommend necessary tests and calculate the associated costs. If you plan to use your out-of-network benefits, you may use the information on the cost estimate to determine whether these services will be covered prior to participating in the evaluation.

Testing Sessions
Testing sessions are typically scheduled within 2 to 6 weeks of the initial intake appointment. Testing sessions are a core component of the assessment process, and usually take place across 2 or sometimes 3-4 sessions, depending on the client's needs. Flexibility is the rule here, as some children and young adults do their best when they are tested across several brief sessions, whereas others feel more comfortable working for a couple of longer sessions. Dr. Palumbo may also request relevant records, provide questionnaires for parents, teachers, and others to complete, and obtain permission to speak with specific individuals (e.g., teachers, doctors, referral sources) as needed.

Feedback Appointment
Once testing is complete, a 60-minute feedback appointment (telehealth or in-person) will be scheduled. Dr. Palumbo will discuss the results of testing , explain any diagnoses, review the recommendations, and take time to answer your questions.
Report Summary
Dr. Palumbo will provide a comprehensive written report detailing your test data, any DSM-5 diagnoses, and personalized treatment plan with recommendations. The report is typically provided within a few weeks after all data is collected.

Superbill/ Receipt
If you have out of network benefits with your medical insurance company, Dr. Palumbo will provide a superbill/receipt of services for you. This can be submitted to your insurance company for reimbursement at the discretion of your insurance company. Please note that this is not a guarantee -- all final decision about reimbursement are made by your insurance company and Dr. Palumbo does not have any control over this.
